Division 3 semi final Robert Emmets 1-1 Rathangan Milltown 6-9
Robert Emmetts played with quite a young team for this semi final. They played their best and had some good possession but  failed to register many scores. They managed to only score 1 point in the first half and a goal in second half .

U14 Leinster championship Kildare 5-7 Laois 4-10
Following a heavy defeat from Dublin in the first round of the Leinster championship, Kildare were determined to show the great football this team can play. There was a strong wind across the Allenwood pitch and Kildare struggled with this in the first half and found themselves behind by 11 points at half time. As the old cliche goes, this was a game of two half and this young lilywhite team came bursting out of the traps for the second half. The whole team and subs rallied strongly and nearly snatched a win in the end but a draw was the fairest result in the end for both teams following a cracking game of football. Best for Kildare were Miah Phelan, Aisling O Connor, Ciara Wheeler and Molly Price. The Kildare team on the day captained by Aisling O' Connor was: Mairead Dolan (Leixlip), Laura Millet (Maynooth), Bronagh Kearney (Maynooth) 1-0, Avril Fitzpatrick (St Laurences), Niamh Dunne (Na Fianna) 0-1, Sabrina Kennedy (Kildangan Nurney), Aine Nash (Monasterevin), Aisling O Connor (Kilcock), Niamh Bergin (Naas), Samantha Cullen (Athgarvan), Miah Phelan (St Laurences) 0-1, Molly Price (Sarsfields) 1-2, Ellen Quinn (Confey), Ciara Wheeler (St Laurences) 2-2, Louise Scully (Kildangan Nurney) 0-1. Subs - Ciara Egan (Clane), Ellie O'Toole (Kilcullen), Kellie Fisher (Sarsfields) 1-0, Ciara Ferris (Leixlip), Ciara Robottom (Robert Emmets), Megan Grufferty (St Laurences), Melissa O Brien (Sarsfields), Katie O Connor (Cappagh).

U16 Leinster championship Kildare 3-13 Laois 5-14
This Kildare team came in to this game having suffered a heavy defeat to Dublin and just like the U14s, were determined to put things right. The strong wind continued to play a factor in the game just like the game before it and Kildare took advantage of it in the first half. The opening two points came from Suncrofts Ellen Dowling. Kildare found themselves playing great fast flowing football and by half time had built up an impressive lead. Half time score Kildare 3-9 Laois 2-5. Remaining scores came from Ellen Dowling 1-0, Mikaela McKenna 1-2, Ailish Heavey 1-0, Rebecca Houlihane 0-2, Derbhaile Byrne 0-1, Emma Wheeler 0-1. Kildare struggled with the wind in the second half and had lots of possession but failed to convert it to scores on several occasions. Laois took full advantage of the wind behind their backs and clocked up some fine scores and outscored the lilies 3-9 to 0-4 in the second half which was very disappointing for Kildare. Best for Kildare on the day were Grainne Lyons who covered every blade of grass, Orla Moran who was very strong going forward, Ellen Dowling was always a threat to the Laois backs, Mikaela McKenna got some nice scores as well as a great distribution of the ball and the ever lively Derbhaile Byrne never stopped trying. Next up for the girls is Wexford. The Kildare team was Rochelle Kane (St Laurences), Laura Hannon (Moorefield), Emma Lyons (Sarsfields), Grainne Lyons (Leixlip), Orla Moran (Athy), Sarah O Neill (St Laurences), Rachel Reidy (Na Fianna), Tara Hallinan (Leixlip), Chanice Corcoran (Celbridge), Emma Wheeler (St Laurences) 0-1, Ailish Heavey (Ballykelly) 1-0, Ellen Dowling (Suncroft) 1-3, Mikaela McKenna (Na Fianna) 1-3, Derbhaile Byrne (St Laurences) 0-2, Rebecca Houlihane (Sarsfields) 0-3. Subs - Kayleigh Farrell (Leixlip), Aine Dunne (St Laurences), Rachel Cribbin (Balyna), Niamh Lawlor (St Laurences), Shauna Kendrick (Sarsfields), Niamh Mulhall (Athy), Jessica Nolan (Sarsfields), Niamh Flynn (Celbridge), Daire Smyth (Kilcullen), Gemma Hartnett (Sarsfields).

Kildare ladies football round up

Leinster minor championship

Wicklow 2-7 Kildare 5-9
The Kildare minor girls travelled to Roundwood GAA in Wicklow following a victory over Wexford the week before. The girls produced a lively start in the opening minutes of the game and Eadaoin Connolly was unlucky to be denied by the Wicklow keeper. Roisin Byrne opened the scoring for Kildare on four minutes with a well taken point followed by a quick equaliser from Meadhbh Deeney. With eight minutes of play, Trina Duggan finished off a great move to the back of the net started by Shannon Doheny and Emer Farrell. Kildare put severe pressure on the Wicklow backs and Erica Burke popped over two points from frees. Aoife Kavanagh added another point for Wicklow following 16 minutes of play. Shannon Doheny showed great determination in her play and covered a lot of ground. The always accurate Burke added another free on 18 minutes. Wicklow began to press forward and were rewarded for their efforts with a well taken point from corner forward Erinne Murphy. Wicklow continued to persevere and were awarded a penalty on 19 minutes which was converted by Meadhbh Deeney. Kildare began to carry the ball forward and on 21 minutes Trina Duggan had scored her second goal of the afternoon. The lilywhites finished out the half the strongest team and added 1-3 before the half time whistle through Orla Gowran 1-1, Shannon Doheny 0-1 and Grace Clifford 0-1. Half time score Wicklow 1-3 Kildare 4-6. Kildare came flying out of the traps and 2 minutes in to the second half, Gowran had added another point. Kildare midfielder Caoimhe Hynes got her name on the score sheet with a well taken score. Eadaoin Connolly won possession around the 40 metre line and made a great run through the Wicklow defence to score a super goal stretching Kildares lead. Wicklow refused to allow Kildare dominate the field and scored 1-2 unreplied. Roisin Byrne added another point for Kildare. Wicklow finished the game the strongest scoring 2 points from play. Aoife Hederman in the Kildare goals pulled off a fantastic save in the closing stages of the game to deny a Wicklow goal. Kildare held on to the margin they had made in the first half and ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of Wicklow 2-7 Kildare 5-9. Best for Kildare on the day on what was a fine team performance were the solid full back line of Ciara Conaty, Michaela Nolan and Rachel Corrigan, Grace Clifford as wing back covered a lot of ground, Shannon Doheny never stopped trying and battled hard throughout, Roisin Byrne covered every blade of grass on the field and Orla Gowran was a strong target in the forwards. The Naas defence were very diligent; Georgina Kelly played very well as goalkeeper and distributed the ball cleverly to the Naas midfield and she was well supported by  her team mates in defence including fullback Hannah Hevernan, Aoife Shaw and Kelly Perkins. The  half back line , including Molly Ryan, Alison Walsh and Amy Jones linked well with their forwards to leave the half time score Naas 1-6 Suncroft 0-2. Naas resumed the second half in lively fashion and midfielder Kate Coffey opened the scoring with a point .Both teams continued to set up scoring chances and the Naas forwards kicked some fine points from play; namely Amy Carberry ,Georgia Mc Holmes and Mary Creaton. Kildare ladies football news

Bord Gais Energy NFL Round 5 Meath 0-13 Kildare 1-10
Kildare hit the ground running in the superb facilities of Donaghmore Ashbourne with Maria Moolick pointing three times in the opening eight minutes. Meath defence was slack and misplaced passes aided Kildare’s opening dominance in the early phase. An early chance for Stephanie Byrne was well dealt with by Kildare keeper Mary Hulgraine. Meath opened their scoring in the ninth minute with a more determined attack. Captain Katie O’Brien led by example and got Meath’s first point. Indeed the Meath Captain got nine out of Meath’s thirteen points and is surely reveling in her role as captain this year. A foul on Vivienne McCormack in the tenth minute led to referee Pat Kehoe pointing to the penalty spot. McCormack, having converted a penalty the previous week, stepped up to take it, but scuffed the shot and sent the ball narrowly wide. Grace Clifford opened her account for Kildare on eleven minutes, while Moolick and full forward Siobhan Hurley also raised white flags in subsequent minutes. O’Brien pulled one back for the Royals with a free on 16 mins. Kildare’s unrelenting pressure in the opening half was rewarded on twenty minutes as Roisin Byrne found a way past Meath’s netminder Monica McGuirk. This was followed up by a Maria Moolick point a moment later. The teams traded scores twice in the remaining third of the half. Katie O’Brien converted a free on 23 mins but this was cancelled out at the other end by Moolick. Kildare had time for one more attack, McGuirk justified her selection in the goals as she made a terrific save just on the cusp of half time and it rebounded kindly for Clifford who made no mistake with the second attempt and raised a white flag. At half time, it seemed as if Kildare were comfortable with an impressive lead. Half time score –Kildare 1-09 Meath 0-04. When the second half began, a statement of intent was required from the Meath team.  Two points from Kellie Allen and Katie O’Brien put Meath on their way for a comeback. The teams traded scores on 37 and 38 mins. Moolick added Kildare’s tenth point, but this was nulled by a fine O’Brien effort at the other end. Substitute Emma Troy gave O’Brien an inch perfect pass to send her through and give the St. Ultans player enough room to get the shot away on her right. Meath were dominating the second half and slowly erasing the deficit. O’Brien pointed from a free on 40 mins, while Mary Sheridan kicked her point of the contest a moment later. With just minutes left on the clock Meath were still two points behind the Lilywhites, who were defending in packs. A foul on Vivienne McCormack 30 yards out allowed O’Brien to add her eighth point of the contest. Late chances to win the match were spurned, although Meath were awarded their second penalty of the match when Bridgetta Lynch was fouled in the parallelogram. Katie O’Brien took the penalty and sensibly leveled the match by placing the ball over the bar. A late Kildare free in was well handled by the Meath defence, this saw Pat Kehoe blow the full time whistle.

Kildare Team & Scorers: Mary Hulgraine, Kiri Lowry, Aisling Savage, Niamh Quinn, Kate Leahy, Donna Berry, Denise Tierney, Aoife Herbert, Aisling Holton, Roisin Byrne (1-0), Maria Moolick (0-7, 2F), Grace Clifford (0-2), Erica Burke, Siobhan Hurley (0-1), Michelle Carey.
Sub: Dearbhail Kelly for Clifford.

Leinster minor championship Wexford 3-2 Kildare 6-9
Kildare won the opening round of the Leinster Minor A Ladies football championships with a fantastic team performance to see off home side Wexford by 16 points in O’Kennedy Park, New Ross on Saturday last. The opening quarter of the game saw Kildare dominate but not on the score board, as Wexford held a two point to one lead, however a goal on the fifteenth minute from Erica Burke kick started a 12 minute spell of complete dominance for the Lilywhites. Emer Fogarty followed up quickly with a point, before two more goals were fired home through Eadaoin Connolly and Emer Farrell, with a further point in the opening half coming from Orla Gowan. Wexford steadied the home ship somewhat with a goal from Aleshia Cullen but Kildare held a 3-3 to 1-2 half time lead. Wexford were given another lifeline on the restart as substitute Katie White found the back of the net to close the gap to four points. It was as good as it got for the home side as Kildare 1-3 without reply, with the goal from Orla Gowan, and points from Gowan, Eadaoin Connolly and Emer Farrell. Aleshia Cullen converted a spot kick for Wexford as they tried bravely to get back into the game ,however ten minutes into the second half it was to be the last score Wexford converted as Kildare finished out the game strongly with 2-3. Roisin Byrne and Shannon Doheny found the net for the team in white and the remaining points in this terrific win were scored by Roisin Byrne, Shannon Doheny and Erica Burke. Kildare team: Rebecca McGurk, Niamh Tuohy, Michaela Nolan, Rachel Corrigan, Lea Earley, Aisling Curley, Ciara Conaty, Eadaoin Connolly, Grace Clifford, Caoimhe Hynes, Emer Farrell, Emer Fogarty, Kim Mackey, Shannon Doheny, Erica Burke. U14 Leinster championship Dublin 7-5 Kildare 0-5
Kildare travelled to O'Tooles GAA grounds in Dublin in their opening game in the Leinster championship. Dublin meant business from the very start.
